Muslim American Society (MAS)

The Muslim American Society (MAS) is an organization with strong ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. The organization, founded in 1993, is headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia and has local chapters in 23 states. MAS is headed by Esam Omeish and Souheil Ghannouchi, who serve as president and executive director respectively. Shaker El Sayed served as the Society's secretary general until June 1, 2005, when he left the organization to become an imam at the Dar al-Hijrah mosque in Northern Virginia. MAS' political and public relations wing, the Freedom Foundation, is headed by Mahdi Bray.
