The Pope is not God's representative on earth as the Catholic church would have Christians to believe. The Pope is an invention of Catholicism, not Christianity. They are two completely different entities; like Shia and Suni Muslims are, they don't believe the same things.

The Pope may elicit reverential respect of many, but he does not hold any authority outside of the Catholic Church.

On the other hand, the Caliphate is the worldwide rule of Islam, is it not?
