Noor Al-Islam

Sheikh Safwat Morsy, current Imam of Noor Al-Islam Mosque in San Francisco,[1] was fired in 2002 as Imam of the Islamic Society of San Francisco based upon claims that he "preached extremism."[2] Sheik Safwat has called for jihad against Israel and U.S. forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.

During a 2003 sermon at Noor Al-Islam, the Sheikh glorified martyrs:

"[O]ur killed ones are in paradise and their killed ones are in hell."

Safwat has also preached against "American" Islam in that sermon, warning against "a faith that does not talk about jihad; a faith that does not talk about the confrontation with tyrants; a faith that does not talk." [3]
