Look, the defense attorneys argued for their clients to convince a jury not to convict, that's to be expected. But the thing that amazes me is their defense made it like the defendants didn't actually do what they did; that the actions on their part didn't mostly achieve exactly what they wanted in the planning. In the civil rights movement here in the U.S. in the 50s and 60s participants knew they'd break the law (laws which were unjust to be sure) and they faced the consequences for the cause. The MSU modus operandi is half-assed and nothing more than youthful petulance. To disobey civilly than plead innocence is just ridiculous.
