Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan
Ulugbek Kodirov, an Uzbek national was arrested in July 2011 and charged with threatening President Obama. He claimed to have communication with the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU), a designated terrorist group, about killing the president. He bought weapons and discussed plans with others. In February 2012, he pleaded guilty to one count of providing material support to terrorist activity, one count of threatening to kill the president and one count of possession of a firearm by an illegal alien. Kodirov was sentenced to nearly sixteen years in prison for attempting to kil the president and providing material support to terrorism.
