[SDNY] In May 1994, four men--Mohammed Salameh, Nidal Ayyad, Mahmud Abouhalima and Ahmad Ajaj--were sentenced to life for bombing the World Trade Center on February 26, 1993, which killed six people and injured 100. Ramzi Yousef, the mastermind of the attacks was captured in Pakistan in February 2005 and received 240 years for the WTC bombing.

In October 1995 Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman, a blind cleric who preached at mosques in Brooklyn and Jersey City, was sentenced to life for masterminding a subsequent plot to blow up New York landmarks and tunnels. Rahman was also found guilty in a scheme to assassinate Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak during a trip to New York in 1993.
