[North Carolina] Charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. Taheri-Azar drove a rented Jeep through a crowd of students at University of North Carolina (UNC), Chapel Hill, claiming that he was trying to avenge the deaths of Muslims overseas. In 2008, Taheri-Azar pleaded guilty to nine counts of attempted first-degree murder and was sentenced to a prison term of at least 26 years, 2 months up to 33 years.
