As-Salam Mosque

The "Blind Sheik," Omar Ahmad Ali Abdel-Rahman, taught at this mosque for many years.[1] Rahman is the former leader of the Egyptian terrorist organization, Gama'a al-Islamiyya (The Islamic Group). Rahman was convicted of conspiracy to murder President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt, solicitation to attack a military installation, and of bombing conspiracy.[2] Rahman's charges were related to a plot to bomb the New York FBI headquarters, the United Nations building, the Lincoln and Holland Tunnels, the George Washington Bridge, and military installations.[3]

This mosque was also regularly attended by another convicted conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, El Sayyid Nosair. In 1994, Nosair was convicted, along with Rahman, of conspiracy, attempted murder, racketeering and the use of a firearm during attempted murder.[4]
