[Fort Hood, TX] On November 5, 2009, Major Nidal Malik Hasan opened fire on fellow soldiers at the Fort Hood military base in Texas killing 13 people and wounding 30 others. Hasan, a Muslim psychiatrist in a hospital at the military base, shouted "Allahu Akbar" (God is great) before opening fire. The attack took place at the Soldier Readiness Center, where soldiers are prepared for overseas deployment.
