Regina v. Khwaja

Al Qaeda

Canadian software developer Mohammed Momin Khwaja was found guilty in a trial linked to a foiled fertilizer bomb plot in Britain linked to al Qaeda. He was sentenced to ten years and six months in prison. In a December 14, 2012 decision by Chief Justice Beverley McLachlin, the high court rejected Khawaja's constitutional challenge of his 2008 conviction for plotting with a group of British Islamist extremists that was planning to bomb London in 2004 and wage a wider jihad against the West.
