Al Qaeda
[SDFL] Adham Hassoun, Mohamed Hesham Youssef and Kifah Jayyousi, along with Jose Padilla, were charged with financial support and recruitment for Al Qaeda and other terrorist groups. In August 2007, a federal jury convicted Padilla, Jayyousi, and Hassoun with conspiracy to murder individuals overseas and providing material support to terrorists. In September 2011, a federal appeals court tossed out Padilla's 17-year prison sentence as too lenient. The ruling affirmed the convictions of Padilla, Adham Hassoun and Kifah Jayyousi on terrorism support and consipracy charges. The sentences of Hassoun and Jayyousi were also upheld.
