Basil Joffe is a personal friend going back to the time when I was 16 years old.I did not know his siblings then but learnt about his family after their sorrowful tragedy.We come from the same town in South Africa, Cape Town, where we grew up as traditional Jews and whose parents emigrated from Eastern Europe.We still keep in touch and visit occasionally.
