Hamas Exploiting Shalit deal success?
Reader comment on item: Palestinians Agree to Elections

This piece doesn't mention the Shalit deal, which may be important context. It seems awfully timely of Hamas to agree to new elections now, just after winning freedom for 1,000+ Palestinian prisoners from Israel jails. With voters likely to reward Hamas at the polls, why on Earth would Abbas agree to elections now after going so long without them?
