Though the article does not mention it, 4/20/11 is the anniversary of the birth of Adolph HItler. So, it would seem that it would qualify along with the swastika as fare for the investigation. As far as the investigation itself is concerned, while there may be issues of academic freedom and the like that are raised as defenses, a straightforward factual report on what is actually going on might cause sufficient embarrassment to the University and perhaps lead to the lessening of tensions - provided, of course, that the results are made public. If, on the other hand, the charges actually lead to a formal civil rights case against the University, then perhaps Governor Brown and the Chancellor will be pro-active and require something more of those who abuse academic freedoms. Time will tell.
