Investigative Project on Terrorism Executive Director Steven Emerson hailed the film The Stoning of Soraya M as "one of the most compelling, stirring, and riveting films I have ever seen." In this article, screenwriters Betsy Giffen Nowrasteh and Cyrus Nowrasteh recount their experience in bringing the gripping true story in Freidoune Sahebjam's book to the screen.

"The book broke our hearts and opened our eyes. It pleaded with us to tell it again, this time on film," they write.
